Spider Mites are still infesting fields in cotton growing regions. Populations are still strong in some parts and miticides should be considered. The current threshold is to spray when “mites are spreading.” Growers who have mites in their fields and vegetative growth has stopped should monitor population levels. Up until this point, plant growth is generally thought to stay ahead of mite populations with help from beneficial insects. Pictured below are some Twospotted spider mites.
